Quality management system implementation

Optimain is a micro company specialising in ‘optimal maintenance’ of marine assets, this includes lubricant analysis and vibration monitoring to identify efficiencies. Reducing the volume of lubricants or the number of types required can save a marine fleet operator significant amounts of money.

Project Description:

One of the strategic goals of Optimain was to become an Approved Training Organisation of BINDT and the application process for this approval required a quality management system meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. The Principal Specialist appointed HKW Risk Management to provide assistance in implementing a simple and straight forward quality management system.
Working closely with the Principal Specialist to understand the business and method of managing projects and providing services to clients, we structured the quality management system around the key processes (recorded in spreadsheets) and documented the information in a simple Manual structure with a confidential appendix recording the SWOT analysis, Interested Parties analysis, Risk Register and Objectives.

Helen from HKW RM really helped me to pull together the core attributes of our QMS, which can be difficult for a sole consultancy business. As is the issue with many similar enterprises, demonstration of quality is essential, but developing the ability to have quality independently verified under an international quality management scheme like ISO 9001:2015 really does need the support of an expert such as Helen. One of the things that impressed me about the working process with HKW RM was the speed by which my key business attributes were recognised, understood and more importantly aligned with the needs of the standard. As a result, what was initially a daunting task became a breeze. No hesitation in making a recommendation from me.
