I have been working with Fluid Transfer International on behalf of ConsultQA to transition the existing ISO 9001:2008 quality management system to meet the requirements of the 2015 standard.
FTi celebrated 50 years of refuelling excellence and innovation in 2017 and has been recently acquired by Flofuel Group (press release here) – this made the Monday morning of the transition audit rather interesting as the acquisition had gone through late on Friday night and all of the new health and safety, quality and environmental policies were now out of date with the wrong signatures on! After some speedy re-printing, re-signing and re-framing, we were good to go before BSI arrived to carry out the transition audit.
When I first arrived at FTi back in March, I was really blown away by the vehicles themselves, not only by the scale of some of them (a 40,000 litre aircraft refueller tends to be quite large!) but the number of components which go into the vehicle – there are approximately 1200 components from 250 suppliers in each vehicle, all of which are put together by a variety of skilled engineers including fitters, welders, hydraulic and electric specialists.
During the project I worked closely with the Senior Management Team, ConsultQA and I were really pleased to receive the following testimonial from the Project Manager:
“Helen proved instrumental in our transition to ISO9001:2015. FTi have held certification since 1994 and this latest iteration has helped focus the Senior Management Team to communicating business values throughout the organisation. A commitment to continuous improvement has been embraced by the business and already the benefits are being realised”
Over the course of the transition project, there was a wholesale cultural change led by an inspirational interim MD and the commitment of the Senior Management Team which was amazing to see and I was very proud to be a part of it.
I’m looking forward to being back with FTi in September on behalf of ConsultQA to carry out monthly internal audits and to continue to embed and improve the quality management system with the rest of the team.
